Praise and Criticism for The Legend of Vox Machina (with Spoilers)
let’s talk about my praise and criticism for The Legend of Vox Machina: Season One. This might seem a little all over the place, but I’m going to try to condense it in a way that’s cohesive and understandable, rather than random and scattered. This isn’t a review, necessarily, they’re just the spoiler-y thoughts I wanted to present but could not in my spoiler-free reviews. If you want my star ratings, I’d suggest going back and reviewing my previous five posts for The Legend of Vox Machina’s first season.
The Legend of Vox Machina Season One (Spoiler-Free) Review
In today’s spoiler-free post, let’s talk about the entirety of the first season of The Legend of Vox Machina as a complete whole: the good and the bad. They really did save the best for last! Impressed doesn’t even begin to cover it, so I’ll really just be spending much of this review praising what I loved about each of these three episodes. This review, like all of my other batch reviews, is completely spoiler-free, so you don’t have to worry about any of that if you haven’t watched the last three episodes, yet. I’m pretty excited to start talking about these episodes, so let’s go ahead and dive into it.

The Legend of Vox Machina is an animated adaptation of the first campaign in Critical Role’s live-play Dungeons and Dragons show. It’s an attempt at adapting months upon months of live storytelling among friends into a concise, cohesive animated story. I’m a fan of Critical Role, have been since campaign one, so I knew that trying to adapt the Briarwood arc—the one that they’re focusing on in this show—was going to be a significant undertaking. With only a few twenty or thirty-minute episodes at their disposal, this is a lot to condense… so, how’d they do?
